Wooburn Singers is an auditioned chamber choir of about 50 singers in South Buckinghamshire. Rehearsing in Beaconsfield, they perform four or five concerts per year in the area, ranging from a cappella works to large choral pieces with orchestra. The choir goes on tour in Europe every other summer.

Every Come and Sing day is a great opportunity to spend a day focused on a major work under the baton of the illustrious conductor Jonathon Cole-Swinard and are always much enjoyed. In the year of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, we are delighted to be hosting these wonderful anthems composed by George Frideric Handel in 1727 for the Coronation of George II.  The texts were used earlier at the coronation of James II in 1685, but it is Handel’s glorious music which has placed them firmly at the heart of coronation ceremonies ever since.  The best known is Zadok the Priest, but the three others, Let Thy Hand Be Strengthened, The King Shall Rejoice and My Heart is Inditing, are all equally worthy.

From 16.30-17.30, the day concludes with a run-through performance.
(audience welcome, no charge)
