Heath Quartet & Guests

The Heath Quartet has performed at the Wooburn Festival for over a decade and is now a cherished event on our classical music calendar.

The Quartet have invited two talented local musicians, Bjørg Lewis (cello) and Isabelle van Keulen (violin), to join the quartet to play Tchaikovsky's  in the second half of the concert. The first half will include works by Haydn and Mendelssohn.

The Heath Quartet have been described by The Strad as “…giving passionate performances that combine technical accomplishment with interpretative ‘air', the Heath Quartet has established an exciting and original voice on the international chamber music scene.

They will be recording Tchaikovsky's Souvenir de Florence work in November 2018 so we will be privileged to preview their interpretation of this music prior to their recording session.  

Bjørg Lewis (cello)

Isabelle van Keulen (violin)

Isabelle won the Eurovision Young Musician of the Year in 1984. Now professor for violin, viola and chamber music at the Luzern University of Arts she is well known for communicating with audiences in a lively, inspirational and enthusiastic manner.

Bjørg Lewis is one of Norway’s most sought after and admired cellists. On hearing her perform, Rostropovich invited her to be his student and commented that “Norway need not fear its musical future having heard a cellist such as Bjørg”
