Heath Quartet & Guests

The Heath Quartet has performed at the Wooburn Festival for over a decade and is now a cherished event on our classical music calendar.

The Quartet have invited two talented musicians, Marie Bitlloch (cello) and Timothy Ridout (viola), to join the quartet to play Tchaikovsky's Souvenir de Florence in the second half of the concert. The first half will include works by Haydn and Mendelssohn.

The Heath Quartet have been described by The Strad as “…giving passionate performances that combine technical accomplishment with interpretative ‘air', the Heath Quartet has established an exciting and original voice on the international chamber music scene.

They will be recording Tchaikovsky's Souvenir de Florence work in November 2018 so we will be privileged to preview their interpretation of this music prior to their recording session.  




Hélène Clément (viola) has performed at the Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Wigmore Hall in London, Carnegie Hall in New York, and many of the most prestigious concert halls in the world. She is a prizewinner at the Tokyo International Viola Compet-tition 2012, first prize at UFAM, CNJA and the Sonderpreis at the WKG in Munich. She plays an 1843 Italian viola owned previously by Benjamin Britten and Frank Bridge

Marie Bitlloch (cello) studied in Perpignan and Paris concervatoires and then at RNCM in Manchester. She was joint second at the Adam competition in New Zealand (1996) and won the jury’s prize at the Bach competition in Leipzig one year later. She also won a Muriel Taylor Scholarship and received a grant from the Pierre Fournier Award in 2001.  She has been a member of the Elias Quartet since 1998
