Claire Martin has been a professional singer since the age of nineteen when she started working on cruise liners, including the QE2. She travelled internationally, gaining a reputation in the United States and Europe. She has worked with many of the top UK jazz artists as well as teaming up with the late Richard Rodney Bennett in concert and on record. She presented BBC Radio 3’s Jazz Line-Up programme.
Claire has established herself as one of the most popular and well-respected female jazz vocalists in the UK, immaculate in her choice of material and accompanists. She is noted for her outstanding musicianship and interpretation of the lyrics of the songs she performs.
Jim Mullen has worked with Claire over many years and has an enviable reputation as a solo jazz guitarist in the mainstream tradition as well as being active in jazz education.
Drummer Steve Brown and bassist Jeremy Brown (no relation) are two of the most versatile accompanists on the jazz scene, well used to performing with UK soloists as well as visiting US stars. Steve is an established member of Scott Hamilton’s Quartet. Claire will be performing a selection of songs from the Great American Songbook.
