Kanekt: Where Indian Music Meets Global Fusion

The box office will close a few hours before the event but you will still be able to buy tickets on the door.

Wooburn Festival is delighted to welcome Kanekt, a vibrant collective of musicians led by sitar player Ricky Romain, whose performances bring together diverse musical traditions in a spirit of collaboration and improvisation.

Founded by Romain, an accomplished performer of North Indian classical music, Kanekt unites artists from a wide range of musical backgrounds, blending the expressive sound of the sitar with clarinet, violin, guitar, bass and percussion. Drawing on influences from Indian classical music alongside jazz, Celtic, Eastern European and world traditions, the ensemble creates a rich and atmospheric musical landscape that is both adventurous and deeply engaging.

Ricky Romain has performed widely at festivals and concert venues across the UK and is known for his collaborative approach, working across genres and artistic disciplines while placing improvisation and live performance at the heart of the musical experience.

Kanekt’s performances are shaped by musical dialogue and spontaneity, offering audiences a unique journey where cultures and styles meet, connect, and evolve in the moment — perfectly reflecting the spirit of discovery at the heart of Wooburn Festival.
