Wooburn Singers – Come and Sing Day

Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem.

Join  the Wooburn Singers to immerse yourself in Duruflé’s serene and expressive masterpiece, and to share in the joy of singing together in a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.

This year’s Come and Sing event at the Wooburn Festival offers a wonderful opportunity to explore one of the most luminous and deeply moving choral works of the twentieth century: Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem.

Blending the timeless beauty of Gregorian chant with rich, impressionistic harmonies, Duruflé’s Requiem is both intimate and transcendent. Rather than focusing on the drama of judgment, it offers a message of peace, consolation, and gentle reflection, making it a profoundly rewarding work for singers and listeners alike.

Under the guidance of the Wooburn Singers’ musical team and the inspiring Jonathon Cole-Swinard, participants will spend the day rehearsing this exquisite piece, culminating in an informal performance. Whether you are an experienced choral singer or simply enjoy the shared experience of making music, this Come and Sing promises to be an inspiring and uplifting day.

Join us at the Wooburn Festival to immerse yourself in Duruflé’s serene and expressive masterpiece, and to share in the joy of singing together in a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.

The tickets include the score and tea and coffee.  A plougman’s lunch will be available to pre-order.
